报告摘要:

The fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) is one of the most exotic collective phenomena discovered in nature that triggered the idea of emergent topological order, fractional charge, fractional statistics, and many other novel concepts. The mechanism of FQHE is highly nontrivial since the interactions between electrons dominate the states. The puzzle is solved by introducing the composite fermions (CF), which are topological bound states of electrons and an even number of quantized vortices. A powerful tool to study FQHE is the CF wave functions, which not only capture the topological features of the physical states in FQHE but also allow quantitative calculations of various physical observables. The CF wave function approach has been successfully applied in the disk and spherical geometry. However, it is nontrivial to apply it to the torus geometry because of the periodic boundaries. In this talk, I will introduce our new constructions of CF wave functions in the torus geometry [1] and show their applications in the studies of Hall viscosity [2,3] and Berry phases [4]. I will also show how we generalize these studies to anyons on a torus [5]. If time allows, I will also show how CF theory establishes the correspondence between localization physics in  FQHE and IQHE [6].
